The Royal Yacht Britannia

Royal history aboard Edinburgh's famous floating palace

Step aboard The Royal Yacht Britannia in Leith and discover a remarkable chapter of modern royal and maritime history. Launched at Clydebank in 1953, Britannia served the Royal Family for 44 years and travelled more than one million nautical miles. Today, visitors can explore five decks, moving from the Bridge and elegant State Apartments to the Crew’s Quarters, Laundry and gleaming Engine Room. The contrast between ceremonial life and the practical workings of the ship gives the experience its distinctive character. An included audio tour brings the people, voyages and traditions behind the vessel to life, while the Royal Deck Tearoom offers an inviting place to pause. This engaging, largely all-weather attraction rewards both first-time visitors and anyone interested in design, engineering, naval heritage or the Royal Family.
